Thoothukudi district is one of southern most districts far away from state capital Chennai. Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital is surrounded by many villages & hamlets. As this district is connected by all four ways of transport people of this district are going too far away states & countries for business purpose, official reasons and travel. Similarly, many people from far away countries & states also come here for same reason. This district has many industries like thermal power plants, tools and machinery export companies: People suffering from industrial fire accidents and other hand injuries in work place injuries need a good plastic surgical treatment round the clock.  TKMCH now has attained a grade of super specialty hospital, teaching DM (Gastro), DM (Neuro) post graduate students. There are four plastic surgeons doing plastic surgical reconstructions for people attending the hospital. Due to large number of moving population and many industries in this district we come across many trauma victims serving them along with our surgery and orthopaedic colleagues.

In addition to these nearly 250 cases of burns are being treated in this institution per year.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10AM-12PM we see patients in OPD, admit the needy patients and Surgeries are done on Tuesday and Thursday.
