The Department of Neurosurgery at Thoothukudi Govt. Medical College and Hospital is one
of the fastest growing departments in the region. With some of the most skilled hands in the
field of Neurosurgery, this department is dedicated to provide the patients with the best in
terms of quality of care through their surgical acumen.

Though it is a tertiary care centre located in a peripheral town, this department takes up even
the trickiest of cases and produces outstanding results. Apart from the regular trauma and
emergency cases (such as Extra Dural Haemorrhage (EDH), Subdural Haemorrhage (SDH)
evacuations & Spine stabilizations) complex surgeries such as removing Space Occupying
Lesions (SOLs) are also regularly taken up. Paediatric surgeries such as Myelomeningocele,
Spina Bifida, Cord untethering, Hydrocephalus, Paediatric SOLs and much more are done
